Greystones 6-3-08

#1 Post by maestro100 »

Went for a good old dig on Sanymount Strand with Neil and turned up a load of big lug. Kind gent there gave me a master class in bait digging. Was planning an early start tomorrow round five am until eight with the rising tide from night to morning but instead went straight out to Greystones. No bites for the first hour or so but then the fresh bait paid off and I landed a 26 cm flounder. Handsome fella. Right after I got a wee dab. 9 cm ish. Didn't take his picture. Next up was a good sized Whiting 32 cm. Took him in on a light rod so he gave a fun little fight. After that, there was a 22 cm rockling. A lovely colour. All went back in except the whiting which was yummy. Not much luck for the other lads there. Packed up at eight and am still contemplating the rising tide in five hours.

That was this evening. Still thinking about going in the early hours. Depends on whether I wake with the alarm. Back a tad stiff from the digging.

Well done Maestro, nice to meet yourself and Neil. I stayed on with not much luck (none actually) for another hour, thanks for the bait, and didnt get a touch  . Did my good deed for the day by giving a rig to that other chap that was there when his own got tangled,,, and when i went back to my own rod there was a little whiting on the hook to save my blushes :P

Dave ever think of opening up a sushi bar on the rocks? With a bit more presentation all that bait looks fairly appetising ;)

Those rocks are fairly consistant for a few different species alright. Fished ennerieley and the roadstone pier last week and all we were getting was whiting and dogs. good fishing guys and always nice to get fish on bait you dug yourself.
