Prawn for bait.

#1 Post by dunner »

Anyone use live prawn for bait?
Any good?
I saw some really big ones in cork harbour last summer, wondering if a trap would be worth while?

Super bait float-fished for bass or pollack. Easily gathered in a drop net with any old smelly bit of fish tied in the bottom.

Dunner,

someone asked this same question a while back (maybe Seanie35) and I said at the time that live prawn is not a good bait, it is a 'lethal bait' if fished correctly, especially for bass and pollack. Cooked prawn is also a good tipping bait. Raw prawn has been known to work for dogfish. So get out there and get some live prawns. I know from your posts that you would be willing to return plenty of yer bass so if you want I can pm ya about using them.
