what is the difference in a shore Rockling and a 3/5 bearded ??

errr.... one has three breards and the other has five.... :D :D

ok to really answer your question....

shore rockling- possibly the most common. their often confused for the 3 bearded.
shore rockling- are usually drab looking green/brown in colour, but can have yellowy spots.
shore rockling- look more like the 5 bearded rockling than the actual 3 bearded.

are ya with me so far ????

5 bearded- has the same sort of colouring as the shore rockling but obviously has 5 beards (barbules)

3 bearded- the true 3 bearded is totally different in colour to all the other rockling and grows much larger.

tell ya what.. the next time we are out fishing i will catch some for ya hee hee hee :wink:

agreed couldnt say anymore to add to that apart from i think 3 bearded rockling are more of a red colour
