spinning this time of the year?
Hi lads quick question,I got a new spinning rod and reel a few weeks back,i really want to give it a cast. Would I be mad to spin a toby up around howth or malahide? Is it too early,or is there a chance of catching? cheers

No, I have it on good authority that there are fish to be had spinning in certain areas.
Fish 2009; Whiting, Dab, Pollock, Short Spined Sea Scorpion, Flounder, Ballan Wrasse, Bass, Blennie, Tompot Blennie, Coalfish.

cheers man, just as long as theres some hope of catching something!

if you put some lug on the treble and leave it sitting on the bottom, the toby's a guaranteed small whiting magnet.

Re: spinning this time of the year?
absolutely no reason why you should not spin this time of year.
good possibilities you have would be coalies and small pollack and if you pulled a spinner across the nose of a cod he wouldn't say no either
there could be a chance of a schoolie bass aswell
get out and give it a shot.
lets know how you get on

don't think the sea trout season starts till around 17th April finishes 10th October so i wouldn't go after the trout this time of year:wink:
