Port lairge

#1 Post by gearoid mc s. »

People:Me & Mann

Duration:21:00-02:00

Tide:lw @ 10 i think

Weather:freezing cold flat calm

Bait:peeler, lug, squid, razor and sandeel

Rigs:clipped pennels and 2 hook clipped

Results:5 codling to 35cm, whiting 35cm, 4 dab to 31cm

Report:we decided to give these cod a bash that everyone is fishing for these days and after a lenghty trip from limerick with a few stops on the way we finally found the mark despite mike's navigation skills temporarily leaving him. Got the fish all through the session and should have been using 3 hook rigs instead of holding out for the big fish with the pennels, ill know for next time. Lovely spot and i will be back for sure. By half one the fishing had died and we had had enough of the cold..enjoyn the heat in the van on the way back we were met with blizzard conditions in tipp so had to take it handy. Got to bed eventually round 5 absolutely shattered but delighted with my first few codling ever! :D and a new pb dab ill source a pic later.

Have to say well done to you Gearoid,

Enjoyed the session from the first cast and it was very nice of you to show me every fish you caught on every cast… but next time try not to stick them so close to my nose as I can still smell them

I was happy to see you catch every fish that we said would be there at the time also happy that I caught 2 or was it 3 Dabs even if they where all foul hooked in the wing

Lets fish a new mark next time… at least then I will have some sort of excuse for being whipped.
