Re: 4 lb Mackeral.....
Thats a lovely one(the fish), was that caught recently?, what was it caught on?. Was fishing down near Derrynane last year and caught some big ones fronm the shore, around the 2lb mark, great sport on very light tackle.
A bad day fishing is better than a good day at the office!

Re: 4 lb Mackeral.....
I believe that this fish was caught by a Dingle trawler at the wekend. It is being kept in a freezer at Dingle Oceanworld.
The full story is in the Kerryman news paper this week.

Re: 4 lb Mackeral.....
Thats some fish Timbo, about the size of the record fish if I'm not mistaken. I'd love if Mackerel regularly grew to that size here, on light tackle they are great fighting fish.

I thought he was from Dalkey. Anyway, I'm totally behind his efforts and support the multicultural and diverse nature of this site. Even if its another person pretending to be somebody else....
I caught a massive rockling behind the convent in Dalkey years ago. It didn't taste too bad cooked in lime with garlic and ginger, to be honest. Generally I don't eat any fish, but give me a brace of pheasants....

Re: 4 lb Mackeral.....
There are big ones in most shoals. The larger fish hang round the outside of shoal. So if you find a shoal concentrate on the edges to get the larger ones.
