primo synchro or primo match
Just a quick question ,what is the difference apart from the glass tip in the match and which one would you think is better.i know it is what ever suites one person might not suite another but is there that much of a difference between these two rods!!apart from the price.

Re: primo synchro or primo match
Ya i have a primo match ordered from Tony's,but it is not ready yet so tony is trying to give me a synchro instead, but the thing is i have one all ready and i think its a good rod, but i was wondering was there much of a difference between them, because he can ship it out straight away or bring it to the show.any info would be great

Re: primo synchro or primo match
there both good rods but the primo synchro has more power in the mid tip to butt section and a little stiffer tip.but apart from that there is not a lot of difference.john

Re: primo synchro or primo match
I bought a Primo Match last year and while it is a beautiful rod, I cant help but wish I'd gone for something with a little more power, I find it a little soft. Beautiful rod, dont get me wrong but a wee bit more poke would have been nice.

Thanks for the replies lads,i was thinking the match might lack a bit off power,i will have to try and do a deal with tony for the synchro.

A little bit off topic (apologies Snots) but lads how would the Synchro compare to say Centuries Kompressor Sport??? Or Tip Tornado Sport for that matter??

on the tip tornado sport i found it more forgiven, in casting, and a little less tippy,,,
on the kompressor i just found the syncro it a much better rod all together, nicer tip and cast a lot better with a lot more power in the mid section,,,
im comparing to a syncro xl myself

Re: primo synchro or primo match
the xl is a scary rod, only rod ive ever casted with a 7oz and it didn't even bend, still went out for a lob though, back hurts too after use

Re: primo synchro or primo match
yeah its a great rough ground rod, seen dennis use in fast tides too, did a sterling job, not mention its ability to put a bait out of sight. but thats the xl. i'd say the ordinary synchro would be spot on for my casting abilities but ive never wanged one so i dont know. having casted the match version i can says its a class rod too

How ya Eric i just got an ordinary syncro and it has a nice tip and stiffens up nicely, was out last week and give it a nice wang and i was pleasantly surprised, as i am not a big hitter. You are more than welcome to a chuck if we ever cross paths.

Re: primo synchro or primo match
Cheers Snots, no probs.
Think I'll stick with me kompressor and just use it more. The synchro sounds "fairly" similar.
I always tended to reach for my Carbon Metal and CccLD when heading out and leave the tornado sport and kompressor sport at home.

XL just means "xtra long" so instead of a 6ft butt its 7ft, making the rod feel slighlty softer overall because of the extra lenght, so a standard 13ft rod will feel sharper/crisper than an XL version, not the other way around.
What makes the synchro such a great all-rounder is that any angler/caster can make it bend, remember the golden rule "if you cant bend it then it wont work" the power comes from you compressing the rod and the rod then recovers and that is what casts the lead further so the more you can bend it the better the recovery= the further it will go.
I had a few casts with andrew,s old XL synchro (now dbrocks i think) and while it did help generate a bigger arc and more lead speed it did feel slightly dampened all over compared to my standard one which i can turn over alot faster.

Howya Snots,
Just make sure to remind Tony to bring the rod over with him. I got one off him a few years ago that he was supposed to bring to the show in swords but he forgot.
