Where: Ennereilly
Time: 9- 11: 30 pm
Tide: falling
Weather: Cold, very bright, flat sea
Who: me
Baits: Lug, Squid, Sausages, Rashers
Results: Whiting, Rockling

Got going about 9 pm. Quite cold, but it was very bright with the 3/4 moon. Hardly needed any extra lights at all. Roads a bit icy, but not too bad, take care if you're driving down here. Snow 99% gone except in some sheltered spots and on high grounds. River has swung around parallel to the beach still, and entering sea about 1 KM from normal because of the wind etc.

I wanted to try out my new BIFFO bait theories and to test out an Okuma Magnetix 20CS, plus there was a rumour that Enya was going to be on Pat Kenny's Late Late so needed to be well away from any TVs.

Anyways...

Ended up with over a dozen whiting. One was 30 cm, rest were the usual small size. Got one chubby rockling at distance...

Sausages are a waste of time. Or maybe they don't like Denny's? Rashers got one whiting, but lug ruled the night.

Bit disappointed with the reel - no way in the Daiwa/ABU class, though still good value for money I suppose (50 STG on Ebay). Will keep as backup and use again. More appropriate to dress tackle down in recession and all..

Pleasant evening messing, I mean fishing.

Interesting experiment. I used to catch eels on rashers in Wexford as a kid. We would be aiming for crabs though
