Tonight at Ennereilly the experiment: Will the Whiting take any of the following baits:

1) Denny's Gold Medal Sausages
2) Denny's Traditional Back Rashers*

(both with use by dates of 22-Jan-2009).

Will Breakfast Rollman Bait outgun the traditional Lug and Squid?

Well girls, the results, over 2.5 hour period:

Lug: 11 whiting, including 1 30 cm, 1 shore rockling
Squid: Zilch
Lug and Squid cocktail: 1 whiting
Sausages: Zilch*
Rashers: 1 whiting

* Due to forgetting bait elastic, keeping this one on was tough going, which may have skewed the results of this test.

The experiment continues tonight, in Wexford....

This clearly is a sign of recession - 2 years ago the whiting would have been all over the breakfast roll baits.
