abu 5500 c3 ct mag

At the suggestion of various members and given the magazines will run a mile from criticising a piece of kit, here is your chance to tell us what you really think about a rod, reel, line, lure... keep it legal please!

if its the newest 08 mag-elite in gun-metal colour with the heavier brass coated end plates there excellent, i recently spoke to my mate in ABU and he reckons that it is one of the best reels to come out of their factory in many years, all top notch compomants and carries one of the best carbon-matrix drag systems around, in his words- "they are bulletproof, and will easily stand the test of time" and avail in both 5500/6500.
The only thing i dont like about them is the flat bar CT cages, a round bar one allow's for better spool grip.

happy days, paddy, been an abu fan for years but found they didn't last the test of time, despite being regular maintained and proper use, the pinion gears kept melting on mine.lovely reels to cast.

best advice for catching species is girls dont like fishing and its hard to catch fish when you sell all your gear'

Paddy I spoke to the same person (possibly) last week too and he highly recommended this model. He actually steered me toward this model instead of one of the "other" new abu's.

Sound Guy.
