Report: Had planned on heading out with Nige for his last fishing session before he flys west to fight the big un's off the Florida coast. We arranged to meet two people who got in touch and were looking for an introduction to sea angling. The last time we organised to meet a couple of people to give them an introduction to sea angling we got caught up in the middle of what seemed like a mini hurricane needless to say they never showed that time (they had sense). Thankfully this time both showed up braving the polar winds that made baiting up similar to a form of severe medevil torture!! My bait which had been out of the freezer since 07:00 was still frozen at 16:00 after some instruction and advice our inductees headed off leaving myself and Nige looking like two moving snowmen on the beach as a blizzard engulfed the coast. We finally admited defeat and started to pack away the gear which wasn't pleasant my boot was full of snow by the time i got the gear in!! Only good things were the two people seemed genuinely interested and will be coming along again for another crack at sea angling..... and also i picked up for a song (albeit oportunistically) a abu 7000 in quite good nick fair play Alex

our bait only thawed when it was in the water. even then it would have taking awhile
I have fished Silver Strand on numerous occasions and drawn blanks except for the odd flattie. Did you ever fish just outside the run on the North side. I have caught 2 bass there and there always seems to be a lot of mullet about. Varies a lot though, fishing in a spring tide is usually good.
the seem like their game if they stuck out those conditions!!!!
yea should have brought them to ballyloughan!!!!!1
we want them to come back again so avoided ballyloughan
well you did blank! cant see how ballyloughan would have done ye any harm - plenty of flats on the beach - its the point thats hit and miss
antbear good to hear you got some bass up the other side on the run - only ever tried the lures twice up there - the mullet have been showing for the lads over the last few months
the beach does throw up the rogue bass - but also coalies sea trout rockling whiting and flats
