Dun Laoghaire 31/01

#1 Post by adam.urwin »

People:Me and Connor (dfella)

Duration:4 till 7.30pm

Tide:Dropping

Weather: Cold and very very very windy

Bait:Lug, frozen mack, mussel, bluey, squid

Rigs:3 hook flappers, single hook pennel, 2 up 1 down.

Results:5 whiting

Report:Got a call from Connor saying that he'd tried Portrane earlier that morning but found it unfishable due to wind, so he was free to head out that afternoon. Due to having to go to Dun Laoghaire anyway we thought we might as well give the east(?) pier a shot. Got set up after a few trips back to the van for forgotten gear  and the long walk down to the end. Within 20 mins Connor had a pin whiting taken on the lug, followed by another to me and another and another  . 1 more taken by Connor before we decided to pack it in. I have to say it was a bit of a disappointment as I had 2 species here last week. Not a particularly good result but at least we were out! Didn't even bother taking pics as would have had to get really close...

Hah, I had to get that in mate! Thinking of heading out tonight to use up that lug. Ended up on the lash yesterday instead

I would have been tempted but I think it could be a bad night! I got up this morning and at 4:15 it was a nice morning. By 5 the place was white. Nearly managed a 360 in the van picking up the lad that does the papers with me.

I better try get that reel sorted before my next session too. Can't figure out the brakes on it but she wont run at all. Might try the park tomorrow if no one is about.
