Penn Sidewinder Evo 1

#1 Post by frodo baggins »

Hey lads,

I broke this rod recently, when in mid cast the top section parted with the bottom section. the fitting is something similar to a ferrule fitting, where the top section slides into the bottom section.
Anyway, as it parted, the force of the cast caused the bottom section to crack/shatter, at the very top where the top section of the rod slides in. (Am I making any sense at all?!)
the result is the bottom fitting is now substantially weakened, and I haven't dared to cast it again. the little shatters/cracks in the carbon extend about 5-10mm down the section.
Would it be possible to cut off the damaged section, rewhip it, and do a light sanding job to make the top section fit the bottom section once again?

Apologies if I have made no sense at all, if needed, I can post a photo of the damage.

Thanks for any help or advice,
Patrick.

Y'all know me. Know how I earn a livin'. I'll catch this bird for you, but it ain't gonna be easy. Bad fish. Not like going down the pond chasin' bluegills and tommycods. This shark, swallow you whole. Little shakin', little tenderizin', an' down you go. And we gotta do it quick, that'll bring back your tourists, put all your businesses on a payin' basis. But it's not gonna be pleasant. I value my neck a lot more than three thousand bucks, chief. I'll find him for three, but I'll catch him, and kill him, for ten. But you've gotta make up your minds. If you want to stay alive, then ante up. If you want to play it cheap, be on welfare the whole winter. I don't want no volunteers, I don't want no mates, there's just too many captains on this island. Ten thousand dollars for me by myself. For that you get the head, the tail, the whole damn thing.
