greystones near the stream 28/1/09

#1 Post by roger de dodger »

People:grandad dodger and joe(my son)

Duration:8 till 12.30

Tide:lowish highish

Weather:flat calm about 9 degrees and not a breath of wind

Bait:frozen peeler,lug,squid,razor,mac mussel

Rigs:3 hook flapps and 5/0 -2/0 pennell

Results:between 30to35 fish ,whiting lots,rockling3,flounder 6 and 1 dab

Report:due to the fact joe hasnt been sea fishing in about two years i decided greystones south should keep him busy and it didnt let us down :) ,from the first cast till the last our rod tips kept jingling with whiting being the main culprit we used size 2 hooks mostly ,i stuck out a pully rig at distance with big baits ,in fact massive baits  just in case a decent codling turned up ,most cast,s it came back stripped with a whiting hooked on the 2/0 pennel hook boy them whiting can munch bait elastic  ,it was a shame the cod didnt show but lets face it they are thin on the ground all said we got plenty of fish and where kept busy  p.s the crab was from boycie good stuff i must admitt 8)

Plenty of fish there roger welldone, I have fished there a bit the last 3 months with varying success, suprised an angler of your class couldnt eek out a small bass though, I've had a few there myself and always on mack :o

Must admit, like you I've had a big bait out, but not got a sniff of a decent fish at distance.

Where have all the coalies gone from this venue :?:

Where have ll the coalies gone in general the only coalie i've had is from that night we fished kilinney in November i think? :? Weird! Used to be a reliable fish to target in the winter months. All there is now is whiting, whiting and more whiting and the occasional flats and rockling

Nice fishing there. Had a couple of coalies from Whiterock over the Christmas period. I'd say the ratio was 25 whiting to 1 coalie.
List 2010. fish

List 2011: less fish

2012: less fish again,

2013: even less fish.

I'm wondering should I even bother turning up on saturday

I hate Joe Dolan, and dont have any TNT or a long handled landing net.

Is this what all comps are like, or just Arklow :?:
