People:just me

Duration: about 3 hours

Tide:coming in fast......then really fast

Weather:calm, a bit chilly

Bait:bread

Rigs:float

Results:1 mullet...

Report:not much to report, missed 5 fish in the first 5 casts, got the mullet just as it was getting dark. at one point the tide rose about 7-8 inches in about 5 minuets, swamping the ground i was standing on......scared the crap outta me, you just dont expect that sort of thing. will post a pic up in a bit

Well done on the mullet, there are one fish that I'd love to catch but I still haven't managed to catch. Although I'm hoping to change that this year.

ok, forget the pic, i forgot i had the manual focus on and its all blurry

craigo, it was about 40-45 centimeters but was horribly thin, would be suprised if it topped 2 1/2 pounds.

al, i use two types of hook. a size 10 treble or my preferred hook, a size 6 owner pint hook. these hooks are the best thing to ever happen to mullet fishing  8)

i think there were about the same numbers of fish there conor, couldn't really tell as they weren't breaking the surface as much.

thanks for the comments lads.

agreed, hard to catch, but you really get a buzz when you hook up with one, so far i have had 3 in 3 years of fishing for them
alandjordan wrote:well done on the mullet, i still have to get one yet. what hooks do you prefere for them?

i use size 10-14 normally hope this will b useful.

no problem mate, if you can get out mulleting with Ron or Davy, its much easier to get the hang of when to strike bites etc if theres someone showing you how.

fishinmiget,
in your opinion which hook is best with bread flake..treble or single.
I find when i get brave enough to try for mullet on flake, i seem to be pulling the hook out of their mouths....... i use size 8 single ... didnt try last summer at all, only on the fly with no results, i had a follow using sugar puffs ( they loved em) and a fly i coloured to look like one.
(i think it was to big)
