Wexford 25.01.09

#1 Post by saltydog »

People: stevecrow74, jd & myself

Duration: 15:00-20:00

Tide: HT @ 20:00ish

Weather: Wind from South East clear enough few showers

Bait: mack, lug, crab, squid, maddies, sandeel

Rigs: various

Results: Bass, Flounder, Shore Rockling, Whiting

Report: Plan was to head South to try out a couple of marks, but with the southerly wind blowing strong the previous couple of days, and with a tip off of potential masses of weed, we decided to stay around the North Wexford area. We settled on a little cove sheltered from the swell and wind, i hadn't fished it in a few years but it throws up some decent bass and huss. Myself and steve were set up when jd arrived and i'd a flounder taken there was a nice surf running into the cove and it looked Bassy. We were picking off whiting regulary and then steve got a nice flounder around the same size as the one i'd got while jd got a couple of micro flounder and was picking up a few whiting too. We'd used up nearly all the lug and maddies and were thinking of making tracks when jd got a little Bass his first of the year nice way to finish. Myself and steve on seeing jd's Bass decided to give it another hour crab baits were put out and steve got a tap soon after and a very pale shore rockling came in. I was getting a good run of whiting with a few doubles (about a day to late  ) we didn't manage to get any Bass but will give this spot another go next time across. Think jd and steve have some pics....

Must say a big thanks to petewex and Joe Byrne from Courtown Angling Centre for getting us out of a hole (litterally) on Sunday morning     and for the offer to fish the comp in Arklow they were heading off to....much obliged gents
