Passage East, Waterford, Janurary 24

#1 Post by somedose »

People:Myself

Duration:Half to til

Tide:High water around 6

Weather:Fine at first but turning into a hurricane for the last hour and a half

Bait:Fresh peeler

Rigs:1 up 1 down flapper (1/0) and clipped (2/0)

Results:3 codling, 2 whiting (surprise, surprise)

Report:First cast produced my first codling of the year, but it was nothing to write home about (about 15 - 20cm). Got another that was just less then a pound followed by another smaller one. About 12 lads from Dublin then arrived and all of a sudden the beach was jammers (good to see it though). As darkness fell the whiting began to plague us. the lads were racking them up using lug and 3 hook flappers but I kept on with the crab in the hope of more cod. When the rain began to appear horizontal, I decided it was time to pack up

Not a great result but good to see the small cod in the river - hopefully a sign of things to come

Don't worry about it - tis always good to see people fish that beach as it's often under-rated
