Waterproof gear for shore/rock/boat

#1 Post by scara »

I'm sick to the high teeth buying water proof gear. in 5 years I've bought.

3 * chest waders. all leaking.
1 * 2 piece floatinion suit ( red think it was sundridge)
1 * Imax floation suit (the orange one) trousers lasted 8 months, jacket lasted 24 months( This is ok)
1 * ski trousers out of TKMAX.(12 months) still haven't torn but are leaking. Still wearing these as there so warm.
1 pair of wellies from liam collins in culdaff. still on the go about 11 years.

Please please what gear lasts.

Thinking of a pair of Snowbees? and what jacket?
Sinking Fast.

Had 2 pairs of waders, both leaked.
Second one was replaced by supplier with scierra TUNDRA wader, felt sole, real rubber boots,
and jap closed cell neoprene.
I have it 3 years and going strong great wader. i will get another one when the time comes.
Its a bit heavy for the summer, but still....Irish weather????????
On top I use the Imax white squall smock.
Its Good, but not as good as the first Version, they skimped on the inner lining.

i have a fladen one peice floataton suit i think its 4 years old still waterproof best buy ever,i have a set of grauvell waders 2 years and still 100% but they only get used maybe 10 times a year and get washed and hung up to dry after every session ,someone was fishing with me recently and he had the same pair and they had split where the boot meets the leg ,saying that his looked well used :?: most of the cheaper waders are made in china ,probably in the same factory and different logo/pockets/knee pads added,of course some lads are harder on gear than others

best advice for catching species is girls dont like fishing and its hard to catch fish when you sell all your gear'

Greys appollo extreme neoprenes and a fleece and smock for winter. Imax aso a good smock. 1 piece flotation suit for warmth but I don't rate most of em for keepin out rain, especially if you happen to sit down. For summer, can't beat simms breathables and jackets - different class!

I use spray way wet gear its really for hiking but its the best gear ive ever bought doesnt let the rain in keeps ye nice and warm aswell and ye can take the fleece out of it if ye get to warm. i bought a pair of sunridge hot feet recently and have to say they were one of the best buys i ever made.

I have the sundridge 2 piece suit for 3 years now and the only part that leaks is around the coughs, it also stinks like filth, I got a titan smock the other day. looks ok but I wouldnt have much faith in it standing up to heavy rain
