Arklow / Courtown Mark Advice?

#1 Post by Dave »

I'm hoping to get a session early next week somewhere around the Arklow to Courtown area, problem is that its not somewhere I've fished before so I'm just wondering how its fishing at the moment and which marks would be worth trying? I'd really appreciate any help or suggestions.

Thanks

Hi Dave,

Ennereilly near Arklow it's not bad, I managed to catch a few bass last year and I know that some people caught some small codling in the last couple of weeks.
Just after Courtown there are some nice mark, I was there last Friday with a friend of mine and he managed to catch a 36 cm codling (not a whopper like the one you got recently).
Send me a PM if you need more info.

all small stuff down there at the moment, mainly whiting, flounder, dabs, mini schoolies,5 beards and perhaps a chance at an odd 2lb codling. must say courtown is a great mark for the amount of fish you usually get and does hold a few decent ones.

I reckon I'm going to head to Courtown alright, I'm meeting a mate down there for a few hours fishing although I might head down a bit early to have a look around and try maybe the harbour for a while. Out of curiosity which beach would be better, the North or the South and what are they like for access?

Thanks for the help lads, hopefully it'll be a decent session now. Btw I'm liking the sound of this shop but I reckon I'm going to have to leave my wallet in the car or something because I can't afford to be buying more gear. I've just glanced over at the pile of gear I have sitting the corner of the room and realised how much I've bought last year alone  , now I know where all my money has gone

as long as it fits in the corner you can consider yourself lucky, I can actually open a tackle shop in the meanwhile, looking forward to supply half Europe for the next few years with all sorts of fishing gear
