Well done Dave, nice codling, well done on putting it back, there doesnt seem to be too many of them about for us to be keeping them so fair play

Dave smashing cod and fair play on returning it, the last fish i took home was a nice cod also, that was two years ago felt so guilty afterwards, so i have now decided to return all fish i catch except a good bass as i want to catch one a have one for dinner, but apart from mackeral in the summer for bait everything else returns to the sea. (if the mackeral are undersize and the first one i catch of a session goes back, the looks you get for putting mackeral back into the open sea is so strange). What part of the beach were you fishing as i normally fish in front of the car park when i'm fishing the beach.(carpark as you drive down under the tunnel to the beach.)

Its a handy mark from that point of view alright, I normally do the same as yourself and either walk up to the left or the right of the carpark. Around the old tearooms can be decent enough and a relatively short cast will see you in a reef mainly of composed kelp, then once you get up towards the carpark the ground is fairly clean. It can be a bit hit and miss so I tend to move around if I'm not catching.

Well done Dave! Great cod! I was thinking of giving the whole fishing lark a week or two off as it's been whiting and an odd flounder for me for a while. Your report has inspired me to keep going as killiney is my home turf, so to speak. Was it down at the tea rooms or had you moved to easier ground by the time you got him?
List 2010. fish

List 2011: less fish

2012: less fish again,

Jebus Id a rough ould session in Killiney last night,My first time there! I mustve got my tides wrong because I thought it'd be going out by the time I got there. One of the joints on my rod stand disintegrated and I tried lashing it back together to no avail. Packed up there and went to Nolans Park in Dalkey. Bit sketchy with the waves so didnt stay, Tried Colliemore for two hours I was determined not to draw a blank. I got a lobster leg but that doesnt count. I packed it in once the seal came to laugh at me so he got the rest of my mackerel and posed for a few photos. Id squid, lug and mack and there was definately something stripping the mackerel off the hook but didnt see and kamakazi whiting.

I came through Killiney at the dart station and walked left to a spot where the surf loooked a little wild but that didn't last. Ill try it agin on a calmer night

Poolbeg tonight to drown the rest of these worms
