Ive tried both methods, painting and powder coating, What i will say about the luminous paint is you will need to get it from a specialist paint supplier and the tin i got was £25 for a tin the size of a small tin of golden syrup  i must have been mad at the time.

Then when i painted them with it, actually i found dipping the leads in it better! I let them dry and gave them three or four coats and the finally lacquered them with car paint lacquer to give them a shiny hard wearing finish.

As for the powder coat again it is expensive for the good stuff £10 a tub from the states. The stuff i used seem to have a hardened finsish almost like enamel was tough as concrete.

lads sorry to rain on your parade here - but after painting numerous coats onto these leads at considerable cost and time, as well as the initial lead outlay ---- one snag and all that effort is lost

does it really work miracles in catching to justify that much effort :?:

Well personally i only use these leads on clean beaches, so as yet (touch wood) i have not lost any!

I can definately say the luminous leads work. Like eric said for flats and whiting and coalies.

a lot of the top boat anglers use em brian to good effect. its about time us shore anglers took a look at em? whiting seem to respond well to a small lumi bead above the hook, as do a lot of other species?
