Mag Elite Handle Problem
For some reason the handle on my Mag Elite has started to come loose on the last couple of trips. I've taken off the handle but I couldn't see what is causing the problem, tightened everything up again and despite everything seeming to be fixed the problem came back. Has any any idea what might be causing the problem and how I might fix it?

Re: Mag Elite Handle Problem
do you lift the rod then reel down to bring in something heavy or do you just crank it in with the reel?

Re: Mag Elite Handle Problem
Get a spanner and undo everthing>......Make sure and place it back as even as you can and tighten the sh++ outta it....
you could do this 10 times with no result UNLESS it is properly seated on the correct threads.
It shouldnt budge then.....
Looks like you dropped it or someth???? Same probs myself many times.

I think that might be where I went wrong, last time I fixed it I wasn't too sure how tight to tighten it and probably didn't tighten it enough. When it came loose again I was worried sure that it might have been something else causing the problem but I'll try tightening the sh++ outta it and hopefully that'll fix it, with a proper spanner this time

Re: Mag Elite Handle Problem
Had a similar problem myself in the past and was due to me not putting the reel back together correctly after cleaning.

alright boy, prob I'd with an abu was the silvery piece into which the handle and washers etc slot in came loose from the end plate. its a fixed feature and should not be removable.this resultd in grinding on the retrieve and the real could not retrieve line as the gears became disengaged like. i'd to buy a whole ney end section.
enjoy

Re: Mag Elite Handle Problem
I opened up the reel today and realised the problem, I don't know how I missed it last time. It looks like the threads have sheared and the handle seems to slip under pressure, so it looks like I'll have to drop into the shop to get fixed. I think I must have damaged it reeling in a fine weed fish.

If shop cant fix it for you ..send it over to Pete Coogan in Liverpool. He will sort it for you.
