hi anthony' i get my fair share of bass every year, "all in north Donegal," best of them are in the size range that baitcaster stated ie; 5/6lb weight.
but they are fairly scarce in Donegal compared to the rest of the country, but they are there. the marks i have for them have to be fished at every stage of the tide to try and connect with them, and most of the time its just hit or miss, but when you get the hit, then its well worth the time and effort that you put in.
my advice is to hit the small out of the way secluded beaches, and fish them at all stages of the tide. thats how i found my marks.....
as ole rab c said " see me' see the sea' i love the sea me"
right i'am off for a swally!!!!!!! so were's the F***'n purse!!!!!!!

Next time i'm home in Donegal. I think i'm going to try a surface lure on the Gweebarra estuary.Although surface lures are reportedly just for summer months.

Well when waters warm up I will spend a day dragging two surface lures behind the kayak. I will try all locations in Portnoo from deep water over sand, kelp beds and (surf permitting) in along the shore line.

If I even see a fish attacking the lure, it will be worth it as I would have dicovered that they are there.
