if you had 50 quid to spend on bass plugs....

At the suggestion of various members and given the magazines will run a mile from criticising a piece of kit, here is your chance to tell us what you really think about a rod, reel, line, lure... keep it legal please!

They'll both catch lots of Bass.

Remember though, it's usually 80% finding the fish and 10% what lure you use and 10% what you do with it!

the intention is to use these lures without any other weights on the line that would upset their action, correct?

That's it. Make sure that you get lures that match the casting weight of your spinning rod. If it's a heaver rod you'll need to go for heavier lures, etc. Most on-line tackle shops will list the weights of the lures they're selling. Most plastic bass lures fall in the 15g-25g range.

I've caught most of my larger bass on the rapala J13, but it's a deep enough diver so it is only suitable in certain spots. I don't know how, but I have managed to keep the same one for about 5 years now, sandeel colour, I just have to bring it with me wherever Im going. I've about 10 new J13s that I have never even opened. The LC sammy is catching up on the fish count though, in my opinion the best surface action I have seen. It is not much use with a big wind, for such a situation I would recommed a good popper that gives more of a splash, the yo-zuri the lads mentioned is very good. Like the lads also said, buying plugs is addictive, I tried giving up for new years, but failed miserably. I'm reading Allan Carr's book now called 'How to give up buying plugs, the Easy Way' :) :)

the ol' German spratt is also a great bass lure if used correctly, and it will cut through the wind too.....
