Ian Golds Holdall

#1 Post by Century Man »

Anyone got one of these?

I note that the small takes 2 rods, shelter and tripod and the large takes 4 rods, shelter and tripod.

My question being, does shelter indicate umbrella???? Or would a John Holden beach buddy actually fit in the small one and 2 rods???

I have the large one and it holds a ton of stuff , 2 beachcasters ,tripod ,ron thompson shelter no problems , and really handy to carry either on the shoulder or using the carry straps that are devided so you can find the point of balance so the tips are always pointing up away from the ground .

HiYa,

I have the smaller one for when I'm using thel umbrella and 2 rods it's perfect, have not used it with the Buddy as yet but I'm not sure it would fit. I'll check over the weekend and let you know. I use the SALT holdall for the Buddy and rods and that has loads of space if that's any help. Just saw Ronalds reply, you're sorted!

The Ian Golds is a fine piece of kit though!

Tom (Rockhopper) has them I'm sure.

Regards,

kstaff

Got one of the smaller golds holdalls, well im nearly sure its the small one. It holds buddy, 3 rods and 2 tripods at a push. Had it 3 years now and aside from a seized zip, its as good as it ever was.

Peter, those zips are almost unbreakable...soap and water wash the salt out and it will work again.....

I use a silicone based spray on mine ,never had a problem yet , the large rucksack is currently being used for my boat gear as it handy for storing reels and camera on the top section ,not sure it's meant to carry 3lb leads , but it hasn't failed me yet  and the zip is still going strong even with getting soaked all the time with salt water splashing into the boat whilst steaming between marks

John1, im fairly sure its the smaller one. 3 rods and 2 tripods inside, buddy strapped to the side. Tom, that zip is beyond redemption as i went at it with a pliers whilst it was strapped on the roofrack and split my forehead open in the process  wish id gone for the soap and water approach though :-) .

point taken    was it a long nose pliers

i do it the other way round buddy in with the rods  its a bit softer than the tripod mixing with the rods  not that my rods are anything to worry about  .

Thats right..whole idea of the zip in the side is to get the buddy on the inside to cushion the rods....tripod on the outside away from the rods.

Peter did you have the pliers in your mouth     remind me to dig out some instructions on how to use pliers
