Report:
We decided to do a bit of travelling and fish a mark known for producing Cod recently...
TBH, our timing at this mark could have been a bit better I reckon (tides etc.) but we were packed up and ready to go, so what the heck.
The lads were lucky they got there at all, Turbot-chargers van nearly calfed it on the way (didn't like hills) - however after a bit of shouting & roaring & physical abuse, the lads managed to coax the van to finish the journey
The mark was flooded with the tide and we had to swim to the fishing mark
On first cast, TC smacked into something fairly good - however he lost it on the retrieve unfortunately, but I'd say it was a very decent Cod.
I was next up, getting the odd little tug on the line. I put it down to weed or the current, but on the retrieve discovered a small little Codling (C&R). CM was so excited the picture came out a bit blurry
Century man had nothin all night... (except 170 fags
Niall was unlucky also, breaking his rod in the process
(I nearly broke me NECK!...read on;)
There were numerous snags at this mark and it was painful fishing. When you start loosing more gear than you are catching fish, its time to go!...
We tried moving spots a few times to no avail. There was such a rip on the tide it was hard to dodge the weed and snags.
I lost one of me legs down through the rocks on the way out, and me gear went flying, box and all
I reckon this mark is probably better in daylight, and we know it has produced decent sized fish during the day.
I lost 3 sets in total, and I think the lads lost at least one set each on the snags.
Might try it again sometime soon... (after I make up about 50 traces
