I was going to fish bray head for some bray head cod but is it right in saying that it is not the real bray head where these bray head cod were caught? i want to catch some bray head cod from the real bray head or the fake bray head doesnt matter to me can some one point me in the right direction im confused

A journey down to Brayhead in County Cork should see you right samo, I do have GPS co-ordinates, but County Cork is all I'm saying as its not my mark

to tell ya the truth i like going to a new mark blind and finding out myself never seem to have much luck on "hotspots"the fish always seem to have gone by the time i get to it if my flu is gone by the weekend guess where i,m gonna fish samo if your up to it i,ll bring ya p.s it a long walk

Whoooaaaa...So much trouble for nothing...I think if the lads don't want to name the mark that's fair...
I have to say that they are not closed about advices... When I was living in Killiney, I met Eric a few times and he get me started with a lot of good advices, that's great, I have started to catch fish... So now I can work and think by mylself to try to find good marks... Sometime a little help is needed, but nobody is going to do all the job for you... The only reason of making reports is to know that there is fish to be caught, after you do your homework... For the story, I have made a report about smoothounds here in Malahide, this evening I had forgot my camera, so I wanted to go back to get a few pictures, but guess what....the place was crowded every evening after that...I fish this spot regularly and it's always empty (except this time strange no???)...But the story is now this place is littered...Disgusting...And it's not the question of poachers, because if you talk poaching, you are talking about money, and professional poachers have more knowledge than us... Each time the problems come with non educated people (nothing to do with the fact if they are national or non national...Look DunLaoghaire pier in summer, their are not all from other countries)...The goal is to protect a place (the fish and the surronding) from people who don't care...
And maybe if they give the exact location there is so many things to take in count (state of the tide, distance, rigs and maybe a special gully or pool to hit, weather, water temperature...)that doesn't mean everybody is going to throw a bait, sit and catch big cod each cast...I have myself find what I was believing to be hotspots, got goods sessions only to blank a lot of time after...Each stretch of the coast can hold good fish at a certain time...The only way to catch fish like that is to fish, and fish and fish harder...For example in my country (South of France), I know a very, very good spot for gilthead bream, but fish it 30m left or right or too far or too close and you will blank because they concentrate in a pool and only there... So knowing the location means nothing... And saying that Eric could be responsible if somebody fall from the rocks is the stupidiest thing I've heard, he has never say to people to go to Bray head and in fact there is a dozen of Bray head in Ireland...
Some comments look like jealousy...And too much noise for nothing...
Congratulations for this wonderful cod, and thanks for showing us that there is still good fish to be hooked...

finally kaner, you speak of sharing marks, well you share some of your then, where did you get the ray in your gallery?

No problem at all.

All of the Ray you see in my Gallery were taken in Clifden. All fished from the White Lady side of the Bay. Note however most people seem to concentrate around the white lady. Forget that move back inland up towards the Salmon farms, I know a man that works on the farms and I have it on very good authority that there are HUGE ray up around the base of the farms. Personally I never go that far up as it’s a bit of a trek but I fish it about half way between the white lady and the Salmon farms. Best fished on a falling tide and I find that Squid has much better results than the standard Mackerel strips. But please, please anyone who does venture up that way be very careful as the bog and rocks can be very slippy. Needless to say it is an unspoilt area of our coastline so please remove all rubbish before you leave. Have also taken nice Huss up that direction also, along with the usual Mackerel, Flounder, Wrasse and Cuckoo Wrasse...

yeah, but that isn't a mark that is little known is it? what if you had spent hundreds of hours finding a good bass mark in galway, you put a report up on this site saying exactly where you caught the fish, would you expect nothing to happen? the place would be full of rubbish and the bass population would be quite a bit lower in a month

and on the original subject as to wether or not it was a good idea to put up a misleading location or not, i think it wasnt a great idea on the lads behalf but chances are i would have done the same thing so i cant really critisize them for it. although like i said, it probably wasn't a great idea.

the person that fu###d up was the person that started posting reports of big cod from a wicklow venue /ennereilly. (he also got some flack as everyone taught he was bull shiting) you know who he is as far as i can remember he told me you were the first to send him a ( PM ) looking for the place and he gave it.

I really can't see the fuse now. I download sophisticated imaging software and I was able to undo the photo shopping that was done. If you look over his left shoulder you can just make out a land mark that some people might now.

not just rte but channel 4 too and now E4!
read the source of the fish on the fishfinger box to reveal all!
eric, it must be great back fishing your regular marks as every second person on the dart
heading to bray has a rod and wellies and doesn't smell of cod, especially on the way home!
i fish to fish! i never run after reports, too old for that stuff,
mind you the fishing HAS changed from the '70s,'80s,'90s and now the noughtys!

Catch of the Week 08th January
This week's Catch of the Week comes from Co. Wexford. Dennis Brock a Sea Angling Ireland SAC member fished a secret shore venue in the south east the morning of the fundraising competition, then drove up to Courtown to fish the RNLI event. His dedication was repaid with a fine nine pound Codling. Caught on a crab/lugworm cocktail fished on a pulley rig, the Codling, pictured above really is a fine catch. Given the scarcity of Codling this winter, Denis has to be commended on his dedication, well done.
