Really there is only Landers in Tralee http://maps.google.com/maps/ms?ie=UTF8&hl=en&msa=0&msid=106837564485253604220.0004577773ad661523d00&z=17
Or Kevin Brain in Waterville, he has taken over the shop in the main street recently.

Re: kerry in aprill?
Bring RAZOR 1kg per person for one weeks fishing, there are locations around the place to dig for lug i would recomend getting Bob Mosses 2nd or 3rd book where it tells you about alot of the marks around the area, from what i have been told you can fish the area hopping from one mark to the next, i would love to going to Dingle myself but Cork will do just fine When are you going down if it was me id be going just before the 9th of april to get the spring tide

PS RAZOR (SMELLY refrozen razor works best), SANDEEL and LUG are all your going to need

Re: kerry in aprill?
Kerry can be hit and miss in April, or at least that’s what we have found.
If it’s any way cold the bass go right off the feed and it can be miserable.
If you can get relatively mild conditions and even a small swell then they can come on the feed in numbers,
Especially if this coincides with the end a cold spell.
We have found that we catch more bass in April with bait then we do with artificial and vice versa in Sept/Oct.
And on top of that Lug out fishes any other bait we have tried at this time of year too bar one mark we have
Where they are pre-occupied with crab.
My best advice is to wait as long as you can before booking the week and watch the weather closely.

Re: kerry in april?
Well that I am not sure of as we only fish for bass. I know our by Catch so to speak tends to be flounder and we have found neither are on the feed in these conditions.
I do remember catching a Bass on Inch the first time I fished it and there was snow on the mountains and my fingers were blue so ye never know.

Re: kerry in april?
Yes Landers in Tralee is the best tackle shop but if your just after some frozen bait the sportwear shop in Dingle main street carries quite a good range. Sammys store at the end of Inch strand also carries a small selection.

i hate whiting wrote:are there any on the southern peninsular?
By southern penninsula I take it you mean the ring? If so, the laundry shop on the main street of Caherciveen stocks a good range of frozen bait and fresh rag at times. 15 or so miles further round at Waterville is Brians shop on the main road which also stocks a very good selection. Culoo can be hit or miss so early in the year and dangerous as well. Off the end of the pier at Reenard (where the ferry leaves for Valentia) can turn up ray, bullhuss and doggies. You may also be fortunate to pick up the odd sea trout at that time of year off any of the storm beaches. i have never had much luck with bass so early in the year, but they are there as already mentioned in previous posts.
i get by with a little help from my friends.
