People: the usual crew of 6 +2 visitors

Duration:6hrs

Tide:damned if i know

Weather:warm overcast

Bait:jelly worms and mackeral strip

Rigs:spining gear

Results:pollack pollack pollack OH! yes there was some pollack as well!

Report:a great days fishing countless pollack all of a good size 5-7 lbs which gave great sport on our light spining rods. often there were three or four fish "on" at a time with Brian McGilloway running around with the net. only during the last hour did the fish go off the feed resulting in a frustrating period with the baits just being sucked and followed with no takes.

Sounds like a good day out 8). I was wondering what colour/size jelly worm were you using and were you all using the same colour?

Did you try changing colour or size when this happened?

mostly they were 7 inch worms/grubs, pale blue worms with a pink tail were popular as were orange grubs, but then a long thin belly strip was popular too! the strange thing was that almost all the fish were caught spinning some of us tried a flowing trace and got almost nothing! only one non pollack was caught and that was a coalfish. but the fishing was excellent!

Last time I was fishing on Donegal bay the tide run (ebb) and the wind from the west were cancelling each other and the boat was hardly moving, fishing with a flowing trace at the time wasn't very productive either.

who? just 4 of us -- that hit the wallet!!
weather sunny but a brisk and increasing WNW which kept us close in.
the fishingnot great plenty of (very small) mackeral and a lot of small pollack early on but as the pollack got bigger they also became scarcer. plenty down there:- you could feel the devils plucking at the lures but nothing would make them take. poor BRIAN MAGILLOWAY had us up and down the reef system looking for feeding fish but they just were not playing!

Sure. you'd pay for the scenery up that way anyway... :wink: :D
