Scan from local paper. Bit short notice for first one,

THE Carrickfergus Beach and Rockers Sea Angling Club set to host 10th annual Waterfront Shore competition

THE Carrickfergus Beach and Rockers Sea Angling Club are hosting the 10th annual Waterfront Shore competition, sponsored by Carrickfergus Borough Council as part of the busy ongoing Waterfront Festival Events programme.
The competition is on Saturday June 25th and will take place at the promenade between Fisherman’s Quay and the Castle.
The peg draw will be from 11am with fishing commencing at 12pm and lines out at 4pm. There will be help on hand for the novice angler and indeed anyone who requires help.
Family and friends pegs will also be available. The competition will again be ran on a catch, measure, weigh and release basis as part of the club conservation policy Only fish that are living will be counted towards points.
This years competition will have several categories including: senior first, second and third; junior first, second and third; and Heaviest Fish Pool, Best Disabled Angler, Best Lady Angler and Best Visiting Angler.
There will be cash, sponsored prizes and trophies for the best placed anglers. As the competition has been such a success in the past, this year the club has applied to council for assistance in running a second event which will take place on August 6.
The club would like to invite all members of the community and further afield to take part in both the competitions as a warm welcome is assured.
The main species are flatfish and it doesn’t make a difference how far you can cast a line as these fish can be found practically at your feet.
All fish must be 266MMS in length before they will be counted, The following fish do not count: Sea Trout, Salmon, Sandeel, Mackeral, Herring, and Bluefin Tuna!
