greystones,the steps, 24-12-08

#1 Post by eyesreilly »

People:me

Duration:3-8pm

Tide:low at 15-18pm

Weather:calm,mild

Bait:mack,squid

Rigs:flappers, mini rig

Results:10 whiting, 1 scorpion fish

Report:Everything ready for xmas by 2pm so headed to greystones to destress for a few hours before Santa arrives. Couldnt get any worms so had to make do with frozen mack and squid. Very calm seas so i was looking forward to seeing a few bites. Fishing was very slow with whiting coming every so often ,,,it was hard work trying to winkle out a few. Had to keep casting different directions and moving the bait a few turns if there was no interest in it. This seemed to do the job and the whiting were enticed to go after the bait as it moved. After 6 whiting it took an hour to get the seventh (i was trying for ten  ), then i hit a good spot and got the last three in 10 mins   . Unfortunately this kept me there another hour    . Took a pic of the first and smallest whiting in case he was the only fish  . I got the scorpion fish on the small rod, fairly decent one too, who gave the best bite of the session  . Left early to get to bed before Santa arrives,,,Happy Xmas

Thanks John,,,,Under orders tomorrow and stephens day John to "relax and enjoy myself",,,, that translates to pigging out and watching the box     . I just put him on the rag to balance him for his photo shoot. The rocks are at an angle and the fish can roll away . I know theyre harmless,,, i quite like them, you know. I usually put them into the palm of my hand and you can feel them vibrate and grunt.
