ny1 ever fished newcastle beech or harbour.
wats the fishin like
wat baits are best
wat species could be expected
wat rigs are best

Dan is was born in Newcastle Co. Down 61 years ago now live south in Waterford but always want to fish that beach because i have never seen any one fish there.
i know the beach and would expect to get dabs and flounder on size no.2 hooks bait i would use lug worm tipped with a very small cut of mack.
You should all so get coalfish and whiting but if around you would pick them up on the same set up and i would expect that Bass may turn up.
Rig i would use two up one down but all above is only some where to start when you have fished it a few times you will get to know the beach.

just wonderin.

i heard of flatties about it and thought that because it is quite close to carlingford lough you mite get an odd bass or even an odd mullet i know their about dundrum bay.

Never tried the beach but had dozens of small dabs of the pier south of town.

thought the peir would hold some wrasse and mulet.....

Loads of small flats from the pier, the harbour has plenty of mullet, mackerel & Pollack in the warmer months and I've caught cucko wrasse along the wall in the past, also whitting and coalies coming into this time of year........

Also know some one who used to catch thornies from their in years gone past but that was until the area was over fished.

You could fluke a Bass but don't expect them.........

how bout doggies or huss or even congers

Doggies used to be every where up and down the coast but have their numbers have dwindled signifcantly over the last 5 years, never heard of any Huss but there are plenty of congers to be had from the bloody bridge.
