Dun Laoghaire - East pier

#1 Post by John D »

Fished the East pier Dun Laoghaire on Saturday from 13.30 -> 17.30. High tide was supposedly 15.30. It didn't seem like it.
I fished on the sea ward side right at the top first.
I caught a wrasse of about 1/2lb.
I got into another fish 10 minutes later and it snapped my rod (It had already been weakened in the crack of a car door a couple of days ago). I fished into the harbour for the remainder of the session which produced a wrasse of about 3oz. and another wrasse of about 3/4 lb.
I was using 10lb line on a spinning rod and reel.
I was floating rag worm.
Extremely sunny weather.
I saw shoals of sand eel on the surface inside the harbour all day long. There were a lot of people fishing but I wasn't near them so I don't know how they got on.
Protect the magical sport of sea angling and spread the word that conservation is the way forward. Put fish back!!!!
