Killiney, Co. Dublin 06/12/08

#1 Post by Senor Feeshy »

People: Me

Duration: 5-7:30 pm

Tide: Yes

Weather:Calm and feckin freezin

Bait: Lug and Mussel

Rigs: 2 hook flappers 1/0-2

Results: Coalie and Rockling

Report:

Arrived to see a moxy of other anglers all along the shore. Obviously a comp. Was glad that my favourite stretch was free.
Setup and had a few decent knocks but no hook ups. Rebaited and took the hounds for a quick walk down the beach. No sooner than I returned the rod started hoppin' and after a good little scrap in comes me biggest shore caught coalie ever at 43cm. Unfortunately he didnt make it back despite my best efforts so he'll have to make do with a brief spell in the pan :D

It wasn't til I went to rebait that i noticed a small rockling on the bottom snood which thankfully made it back.

That was it for the rest of the session. The cold got such a grip on me that I toyed with the idea of abandoning all me gear rather than pack-up with ice block hands

pic to follow...

You should try out these handwarmers they're activated by air and stay warm for 10hrs you can get them in the ski shop in Dublin and a few of the outdoor shops carry them. They're called "HOTHANDS-2" manufactured by HeatMax very useful for long periods outdoors in icey conditions :)
