west Waterford beach 4/12/08

#1 Post by seanie35 »

People:me

Duration:7 till 11

Tide:high at 10ish

Weather:cold and blustery

Bait:peeler

Rigs:tried a feeder rig

Results:1bass
lucky to get out tonite, kids have the pukes, went to clonea, great surf. Just fished the 1 rod. Put the peeler porridge in the feeder and lashed 2 crabs and a bunch of legs on a 4/0 hook. Wouldve liked to be able to get better distance on the cast but got to the third wave. Nothing on first 3casts. Had just rebaited and cast out when some idiot drove into the carpark behind where I was fishing and decided to go full beam the area I was fishing, this lasted about a minute and I was just about to have a word and he drove off, 20 seconds later got a slack liner, reel in to connect and got a great tug back when I caught up with it, grand fight off it. 62cm and weighted 2.9 kilos. Pretty certain the feeder helped get it as it was only in the water 3 minutes max. As for the full beam clown I wouldve have thought it would clear the area of fish. Anyways it was great to catch the fish early into the session cause it was like pressure off, didn't get any other bites 8)

Hi Seanie,
thats a cracking looking fish, had the same problem with headlights in youghal recently myself, the idiot kept flashing his fulls on me for an hr.Needlessly to say once i powered up the silva to the max and turned it on him it was'nt long before his pimpled boy racer face turned away and his pimp my ride corolla drove off grunting and banging into the night
Just out of interest with the downturn in the economy has anyone looked at patenting a swim feeder for bass fishing, just buy all the freshwater ones and label them guaranteed BASS CATCHERS     .The guys in the tackle shops must be saying amongst themselves that the coarse fishing must be flying as even the sea guys have jumped ship.
Anyway great result, and maybe you could put some of the kids puke into the feeder next time,it might be even better

nice fish sean, 8) think it will fish a bit better there tonite..........was just down there :) first 2 cast 2x5lbers stayed for another hour without a bite, decided to save the bait till the evenin.

went back from 4/6pm., nothing for the first few casts then dropped a 3 hook flapper in close, got 2x3lb. and lost another.

lights dont make a big differance,

Yeah but it doesn't seem to put the flounder off! :D
Its called fishing, not catching. If it was called catching it wouldn't be fishing!

I thought the last few days the fishing was meant to be poor to fair   Only messin Cortaz! I had a look at shanleys around 2pm on my way past and it was lookin good. Wd say ye have a great chance of a few more tonite in the clonea east direction. I'm off to another spot shortly. I reckon betwen the predictable fishin and the feeder rigs, no fish is safe now! 8) 8) 8)

got a few feeders today will be heading out tomorrow night to see if the work for me only thing i be worried of is getting knocks on the feeder rather than the hook and scaring off the fish well bass in particular as if its whiting that are at the feeder they will eat plastic and all
art that,s is a very healthy looking bass

Shane, I would guess that if there are lots of whiting about then all the feeder will do is just attract even more whiting. They will have it devoured before a bass even gets a whiff of it. Of course a whiting feeding frenzy might attract a big bass :) :)

if there is enuf whitin in front of you (or other species in a lot of cases) it can be near impossible to catch anythin else, whether yer usin the feeders or not. Its wen d fish aren't quite in front of you the feeder does the biz coz it draws em towards you. Wot they will be depends on the mix in the feeder, the location, etc etc etc
