People:me

Duration:6 til 10

Tide:10ish and small

Weather:cold and showery ,little wind and thunderstorms

Bait:lug,frozen x5or 6 times razor

Rigs:various

Results:6 bass

Report:As i had lug leftover from last nights poor session,i decided to head east into deise land.Fished a sheltered beach that had a cracking surf running, hopes were high but after 2 hrs it was'nt looking good, however that all changed with 5 or 6 slackliners,i hate those bite so hard to connect with   .
Changed my rigs to pennels with very short snoods a trick that seems to work for me in these situations, don't know why  .Quickley hooked into my first fish on razor of about 3lb approx, did'nt bring scales or tape, still in the flotation jacket drying out. These was then followed by 5 more near high tide, biggest around 5lb the others all around 2 lb mark and all released. At the end 3 on razor and 3 on lug.
All the fish were taken at range so much for the 3rd breaker rule, and all SLACKLINERS :!: :!: .Interestingly most of the activity seemed to coincide with the time the thunderstorm was rumbling through   .Normally don't fish in such conditions but i was feeling lucky and im still here[phew].
Any ideas why all slack liners, the norm on this beach is been whacked, but i most say this is one of the few beaches that i fish where i get the odd slackliner bites, and the fish get away most of the time if i dont use my little snoods and pennels.
Tight lines

Hi Frank,
the snood lengths were only about 4 or 5 inches, fished pennel style.I rigged them up with the snood just hanging above the lead, the idea been that i switched to fixed grips rather than the breakaway type and the theory been that as the fish hit they would hook themselves against the tension caused by the grip.
All in all a very short trace body.It was a tip given to me years ago but i rarely use,due to my facination with fancy bait clips,up and over snoods etc etc.Would love to have used a plain lead but the current would have washed my bait onto dry land everytime,so it was the fixed wire lead option, which put a big bend on the rods, but once the fish hit it was slack everywhere and a hook up.
Def worth a try if your missing slackliners, but its hell bringing the line ashore if you don't get a bite,my arms are aching this morning.
Tight lines.
