525supermag tuning- how do you do it?
any tips on speeding these reels up without using the slidey on it? took out extra magnets and re-oiled it still too slow
dosen't make much sense having to take out the 4 standard magnets when the old ones run fine. anyone tried yellow rocketfuel?

Hey Mark, not tried the supermag yet myself. Yellow Rocket fuel should help though. Might also be worth taking the bearing seal off and totally flushing the spool bearings.. If you are careful, this can be done with a pin or hook. There might be a bit of grit or greese in there that you can't flush free.

Just thinking, I've a spare set of Abec5 bearings. Your more than welcome to them if the above doesn't sort you out.

There is a 'manual' on how to clean a Penn 525 here:
http://www.atlanticanglers.com/forum/attachments/fishing-tackle-gear/3509d1192409480-i-am-new-owner-525mag-stucleaning525.pdf
It might help removing those bearings..

How Ya Mark,
flush the bearings and use tournament fuel, she'll sing sweetly for ya! How slow is it at the mo? How many sec's with full mags on for a spin of the spool? Fishing 7-8 secs is spot on I reckon,.

Re: 525supermag tuning- how do you do it?
it's slow enough to want to throw it in the bin
i will get it out of the tacklebox and give it a spin(like i have nothing better to do... you casting fella's
). i dont like using the slidey. prefer the old fashioned way of controlling the reel with oil and line amount. cheers again for all the help. if i cant sort it i will have to stick it to the top of a church during a lightning storm- 'it's alive'!!!!
