anyone know anything about these rods??

At the suggestion of various members and given the magazines will run a mile from criticising a piece of kit, here is your chance to tell us what you really think about a rod, reel, line, lure... keep it legal please!

anyone know anything about these rods??

#1 Post by red »

i read a report from someone on another site about these rods and had a look for them on ebay.
its £61 and P&P is only £6 and it comes with a plastic tube. not sure if their any good but as usual the report from the seller makes them out to be top class. he's sold over 1000 items and has a 100% rating so thought they might be good???

im lookin for a new rod to fit a multiplier so if anyone has heard anything about them a review would be appreciated.

if not can anyone recomend a rod for me. im lookin for one to use from rocks and beaches, around 13-14foot and about 100-130euros.

tanx,

fairly central in cork.

i saw them on an english forum. some guy had bought 2 and thought they were great. theres not too many people on ebay with over 1000 sales but still with 100% record so im thinkin they must be good enough. im also thinkin that a lot of the feedback might have been left before the rods were tried out so in 2 minds about them.

Had a feeling you were local enough.:-) get yourself down to dan lynch in halfway. Spotted a penn surfblaster ruff stuff in there for your budget. Thats 14 feet and will tick your boxes for small money. Owned one for a year or two myself, Wish id held onto it to be honest.

was down with him last week gettin bait and he recomended a few rods to me but cant remember what they were, was on my way home from work and half asleep. 1 he recomended was a 2 tip 3 piece but i think it was only 12 foot. it was a mulitplier rod but he said it would also take a fixed spool as im just using a multi for the 1st time ever. lookin for something a bit bigger tho as my casting wouldnt be the best and the extra few feet might get me a bit more distance.

ill pop in again to have another look and see if he has the penn.
cheers.

dunno where you are so ill start from dunnes in bishopstown court as its easy to get to. when you get to the roundabout head for bandon. keep on this road for about 8-10 miles untill you come to a roundabout. kinsale is the 1st exit, bandon the 2nd and half way is the 3rd. head for the half way and youll go over a small bridge with apartments to your right. follow the road and veer right at the bend. go through the village passing new houses/apartments on your right and a shop on your left(i think the shop is shut down now tho). just after the shop theres a little sign on your right for "halfway angling" turn in and its the driveway to a house. the shop is behind the house. if its shut wait around a min or 2 and when they see the car they'll come out to you.
he has a website too but not everything in the shop is on the site

http://www.tackledirectireland.com/.

most people i know that fish swear by him. i was told not to waste my time with some of the other shops, and to go straight to the halfway for anything i need.

is this the rod ye were talking about lads??

Penn SURFBLASTER RuffStuff Rough Ground Surf

Want a rod for the rough stuff? Then as the name suggests, this is the one. Rock end marks, casting over rocks to more rocks, reefs at range with clip down pulley rigs, this is The rods for the rough stuff. Casting distance is probably less important than the rods ability to handle what its name suggests. But rest assured - when distance is required you will not be disappointed! Perfect for the North East Coast or anywhere with big seas and rocky marks

just had a look at the website and spotted this for E130 which is about what i was willing to pay. is it 2 or 3 piece tho? it doesnt say on the site and im leaning more towards a 3 piece for convenience in the car.

Its a 2 piece and will fit into any normal sized car. The 3 piece you mentioned above with the 2 tips sounds like one of the lower end Grauvell rods. IMHO, I'd go for the Penn.
