#1 Post by uvox »

Will be staying in Renvile Galway over new year's. Anyone advise me on the shore fishing options close by (5-10 km) at that time of year?

Cheers

Glassilaun beach usually holds good size whiting, and should be the odd ray about still, plenty of coalfish should be about the place too..

Lettergesh is another beach worth trying holds good flat fish and you might still have a chance of ray at distance. It's in between Renvyle and Glassilaun i'd bring some squid for tipping and sandeel also..... Tight lines :)

P.s. Galway Bay SAC are holding a comp at Lettergesh on Nov 30th i'll let you know how it's fishing afterwards.

flats will be starting to head back into deeper water to spawn by that time of year. you'll still get the odd one, but no real numbers.. fish baits seem to work best this time of year too

the rag are used rarely over this side side you could have a few surprises

whatever you do dont bother with the beach itself in renvyle - sometimes called rusheeduff or roinsin dubh

ive never fished trawmore to the west - but it could be an option if the wind is against you
