When do you plan to fish it ? Cobh is very tidal so it's best fished on a slack tide.
Species to be caught at this time of the year are whiting, pin whiting  , more whiting  add a mx of the cod  , dogfish, coalfish, conger, dabs for another week or two and the rockling oh!  :? :? did I mention whiting   . Best baits would include Lug, mackeral, rag and a few crab would not go astray.

PM me when your heading this way and I'll put you on a few hotspots

i was in cobh 3 times in the last few weeks.

1st time was at night and it was a last minute thing after work and all we had was mack. got 2 dog fish, a small conger about 2 foot in length. also had some very small whiting.

2nd time was last week. bait was mack, squid, frozen black lug and a few frozen peelers. got 5 nice sized whiting and lost count of the number of small whiting. also got a lesser weaver(thats what i was told it was anyway) which, 1. i didnt want and 2. didnt expect. at least it was a new species for me.

3rd time was yesterday. bait was mack, squid, black lug and 1 crab i found in the freezer. caught a good few small whiting and just the 1 edible sized whiting.

i got a new multiplier and hadnt used one before so the last 2 times i was there more for casting than fishing but still got a few fish. most of the whiting were caught on either frozen lug or mack and a bit of squid on the same hook. if im going again id probably use just the squid and mack as there cheap and worked just as good if not better than the other bits i had. ill try the crab again for cod in a few weeks if i can get some. if your lookin for squid i got some frozen in the new asian cash and carry on the tramore rd. E1.99 for a box. its the exact same as the box i got the last time in a tackle shop but it was E4.99 there. exact same box. only difference was one was bein sold as bait and the other as food. a bit of a rip off really.

where i went is the car park behind the train station and the heritage centre. if your coming from the cork side pass the ferry terminal, past a car garage on your left and about a mile on theres a right hand turn with a signpost for a cop shop and a free car park. turn here and go down the hill into the car park. its not the best spot in the world but very very handy. park the car and you can fish literally 3 foot from it. theres a walk way all along it with a little wall to sit on and benches every 30 foot. theres even a railing to rest your rod on and a little playground if you wanna bring kids. if you go up a little further theres no railing and nothing behind you so it makes it a bit easier for casting but the water is so deep theres not really any need for distance. theres also street lights all along so barely any need for a lamp if its at night

hope this is of help,
red
