I saw the same rod, the guy said it had been active for 3 years so far!! I went hunting for these "10 year tip lights" but i couldnt get any results from internet searches. Id love to know if anyone does know where they can be bought.

they dont actually last for ten years, its seven, i know a couple of local
shops which have them, 7.50 sterling for one. have used them my self
and they are very good, i just attached to the tip just using ordinary
selotape , but you could use a special light holder as used for the chemical night lights which need to be cracked to activate, could get a few and post to you if you wished,

i got myself a couple of tip lights about six years ago and they are very good,
you tie or tape the small holder onto the rod tip, then you just slide the light onto it.
they are powered by two watch batteries, i have only had to change the batteries once, and that was last year. as far as i can mind they were only around the £5 mark, you get them in green or red.

hello fishermannum1, this is not the light the guys are talkijng about,
the light they are talking about does not need batteries, works on a
chemical principle, similar in size to the chemical night lites.

Hi Lads

If you go on to Ebay search for Isotopes and you will find what yous are looking for I have one of these it was my fathers and it has been glowing now for about 22 years I think he told me when he got it that it was suppose to last for 25 years i think they are radioactive.

anyone tried the glow in the dark fishing paint??
got some a few weeks back on ebay and it works fine(so far anyway). think it was about 14euro after P&P but the bottle was big enough to do at least 10 rod tips. any light will do to charge it but a uv works best. shine the uv on it for a minute or 2 while your puttin the bait on your trace and it will glow for a few hours. very handy. i put some on my elastic container too and its very great for when it falls off the box or blows away. easily found on a dark night and better than walking round with your lamp glued to the floor looking for it.

Havent tried the luminesce paint yet. Its on the shopping list cos im sick of loosing bait elastic containers and scissors too!!! The problem arises when you dont have a headlight for whatever reason to charge the paint up!! glow beads without a headlight?? useless!! I figure, but these now, get them on the rod and ill at least be able to see the top of the rod!!
