ballycotton pier 7/11/08

#1 Post by thighlinescork.com »

myself:

11:00-2:00:
either side of high tide:

gusty with showers

squid lug razor:

2 up:

5 whiting and a doggy:

headed out to try out the new rod and rell Shimano Nexave BX Surf 13ft and surf master 850 loaded with whiplash braid the wind was howling and rain beating down on my windscreen thinking to myself i was mad to be out in it last night was going to hit a beach mark but know that i would be blowing out of it so opt for ballycotton as it was a well sheltered pier using braid with the new rod will have to invest in a finger guard as the figer got cut from the braid but i will have to say its brilliant the way you can fell every bit and the fishing fighting as you reel him in . any way got there a hour before high water the rain had eased off and had a doggy and a whiting in the first hour and then got another few as the tide was dropping the rod did doubled over at one stag and then as i tried to reel in so my Guss being ballycotton is that it was a conger . packed up around 2 as rain began to fall heavy :

We were tempted to head down there and all!! We started off fishing Inch but the wind and driving rain straight in your face was a disaster!! Camden would have been the spot to fish last night. Its an awfull pity the access has been totally screwed up for anglers.

Fair play to you for heading out on Friday night - I had been thinking of heading to one of the beaches but looked out at the rain   and went for an Indian and a few pints instead.

But got my share of the wind and lashing rain this morning
