we are heading up to poulnasherry sunday and monday not 100% of tide times anyone help out on this?also be greatful of any reports and what baits to use we will be mainly after ray but will also be trying for flats?

I'm back in Dublin and my Tide Tables are in Clare!
I fished Poulnasherry recently - lots of LSD's and 1 small Thornback all
on sandeel. See report in Shore Reports. Weed was a problem as I was fishing Spring Tides.
Tide conditions should be good this week-end.

I never fished for flats here but it could be worth a try. Peeler crab probably best bait.

Ok bring long distance rods and reels preferably one of those century zziplex or conoflex one reel with 20lbs and the other with 15lbs line.

With one rod use a two up one down clipped down trace with cascades with sandeels tipped with mackerel and size 1o hooks clipped down for maximum distance so you can get it into the middle of the channel or even further the channel is full of spent oysters quite unusual really as I snorkled it before when the flow was slow and water clear the place is full of dogs and ray but sometimes you will only draw a blank even if the fish are there.

Then use a one up one over clipped down with a long flowing trace for the stingers as they will be making an appearance soon with the warm weather you can see them some times in the shallows over the warm sand.

The stingers are caught at all distances from 30 yds out up to 150 yds if you can get that far.
I would recomend 20 line for the stingers as they can make a good run I have seen some jump out of the water when hooked...........

There is a guy here in the forum called Bill Ryan who is regular to this site who writes remarkable reports on the Loop head and west of kilrush on the Shannon Estuary.

There should be plenty of bait to be caught from the cliffs early in the morning from 5am on but bring some in case you get stuck.

nice one thanks alot for the info just hope the weather keeps up.what part of the tides fishs best?crab any good as i have loads?

Barry,
Try Ferry Point near Picnic Area 1 hr. either side of LW and then move 500 yrds to left with rising tide. Michael Burke,Fishing Tackle Shop beside Petrol Station on way in to Kilkee has good sand-eel. I use 1 hook 4/0 Pulley Rig with plenty sandeel mounted for ray. Weed attached to rocks floats in front of you with rising tide so pulley rig is useful.
