Hi all, might seem like a very stupid question, but here it goes, only recently came across a bait called blueys, are these any good as a bait ????????????????

and in my opinion i won't go fishing without them....i find they are deadly for coalies and dogs up my neck of the woods

there are varied opinions on this bait as you can see some like it some dont ,the best advice i can give is to try it yourself and see how it goes!!its an option to makerel and supposed to be very oily.cheers john

have the same opinion as copperboy, crap!!
but as beachcaster said try them your self to see how you get on with them, some people swear by them.....i dont!!!!

I think Bluey has a much higher oil content than Mackerel but it releases it a lot slower. I think that the instant release of scent that you get from mackerel is much more useful unless you are planning 30 min casts. Bluey is very pricey aswell.

Rubbish Bill!!!

Never caught anything on them, Funny that myself & Fintan find them crap on the east coast but Jonny catches up North, well worth a try Conger, obviously works better in some areas than others.

very oily can see the slick for ages have had some luck with it but there is nothing that swims will not take mac so always return to it.

Used bluey once on an antrim coast rock mark, was getting some bites and managed to land a doggie, however in that space of time about 2 hours the guy beside me managed 4 pollack includding one approx 6 lb on mackeral.

I was trying for Huss and listened to the article in Total Sea Fishing

i ment to say in my post, a good alternative bait, next to mackerel is scad (horse mackerel)
but i dont think you can buy it in any shops, i useally freeze the ones i get for use in the winter...
