i am not mad on the plastic heads on the Ian Golds, which can break if mistreated. i would prefer if they where a bit deeper to. thats just me. i'd still buy another though.

only thing i dont like about my imax rest is that its wild heavy. otherwise great bit off kit and will last, but have returned to my old ian gold one due to the weight issue.

just to add fuel to the fire i use the veals tripod, almost the same as the ian golds, but with metal cups, otherwise i would have used the golds tripod. But the point is its not what is just the best but what you like and wish to use, for most its the ian golds, but i broke too many plastic cups on other tripods when rock fishing so the metal ones on the veals appealed to me, still wouldnt mind the ian golds match tripod, but then again i am a tackle tart :lol:

Plastic cups are a problem - they break.

has my ian golds one i think 12 years and its still the same as day one.
shore species 2008(25):dogfish(3.1lbs), bull huss (12lb 2oz), bass, shore rockling, coalie, whiting, pollack, conger (22.4lbs),flounder, thick lipped mullet (4.8lbs),turbot,ling (11.2lbs),ballan wrasse(4.5lbs), cuckoo wrasse, pouting, poor cod, cod (9.5lbs), dab, 3 bearded rockling, long spined scorpion fish, corkwing wrasse, plaice, trigger fish, sea trout, garfish

Hi basslover1, i recently got a Daiwa rod stand and i find it great, i haven't really seen it around, its aluminium body folds right down almost like a video camera stand but it is good and strong and easy enough to carry around,,,
