You should have cast out and brought em in and cut the whole lot to pieces!! Or waited around to see who came to retrieve it and what their reg was!! Selfish people like the ones who shot that net have no business sharing the planet with the rest of us!! SCUM!!!!!!

yeah mike i was contemplating doing that but current rips past, 2 strong to wade out, did get stuck in it twice but seemed to be nailed................. it was definatly targeting bass, was only thinking this morning how come the mark had been fishing poorly this month after being great all year. also think it was laid from a boat probably under darkness

Yea I know the currents around there are pretty strong. Im doing quite a bit of fishing around that area at the moment and im gonna make it my business to find out if that net is a regular occurence. Most of us are all environmentally aware these days about things like catch and release and treasuring what stocks of fish remain. I know my attitude towards the sport has changed enormously as ive grown up (im 30) and ive done my best to make sure that everyone i fish with is aware of how slow bass grow and exactly what youre handling when you bring one in. And then you come across things like that happening where you pride yourself on releasing bass that you catch - only to wind up in these f**ckers nets???? Out and out greed. Thats all that is. How do these people sleep at nite!

Its pretty low alright mike then again without condoning it I'm well aware of the tradition of netting in the blackwater going back generations, its probably in these guys blood, I'm not going to be a hypocrite cause I've only ever c+r 1 bass but I never broke the regulations, hopefully the net got pulled today and the mark will recover whatever it lost

Not good to hear about the netting - but hopefully the net has been confiscated.

That on top of Stan's comment earlier in the week about the harvesting of crabs in Youghal doesn't do much for Youghal's angling reputation.

By the way that's a nice rockling. I may give Caliso Bay another bash over the weekend.
