Shipping Rods Overseas

#1 Post by Liamo »

Hi Lads,

I'm heading off to Oz come the new year and I've been advised to bring my beach gear with me if possible as good tackle is harder to come by over there. So I'm hoping to ship out maybe 3 or 4 beach rods and a similar number of reels. I have an address over which I can post them to. Any suggestions as to how to get this job done, good courier, insurance a must etc. etc. I've made a start, I have a big length of piping which I can pack everything into - but where do I go from here

when you have it ready get the weight and dimensions of it. ring all the major couriers(fed ex, tnt, dhl) and give them the details and send it with the cheapest. these companys will send it with maybe 4-5stop overs. dont pack it properly tho as they'll more than likely want to open it up again to inspect it for dodgy stuff. give yourself an extra week than what they tell you in case theres delays. make sure you get a tracking number off them too so you can see online exactly where it is.

no matter how much cheaper an post is, dont use them. they'll give you a tracking number but it only works in ireland, once the item leaves the country its no use. if it goes missing its very hard to find it again.

Hi Ya Liam,

sorry to hear the news but best of luck with the move!

I'd drop our resident Ozzie Jeremy Schrader a PM as I know he often gets items shipped to OZ from the UK, I'm sure he'll be happy to advise as best he can?

Regards,
