Out today with Des Mills aboard Barracuda, due to wind were restricted to the closer wrecks and inside Inishtrahull. We managed quite a few pollack up to around 7lb and loads of coalies to around 5/6lb,1 pouting, 1 ballan on wrecks, no ling.On sand managed a few good red gurnard, some small whiting and two tope, 28lb and 32lb, another was lost.Looking good for the rest of the season.
Entries now open for the All Ireland Shore Cod Championships on November 29th hosted by Sea Angling Ireland SAC

What did you get the tope on? I've heard that flatties are good bait as an alternative to Mackerel

both tope i got came on fresh mackeral flapper, mounted on a 7/0 o'shaughnessy with an 8inch muppet above it.heard that dabs are meant to be a good bait myself as tope are often caught in areas where dabs are fairly abundant.whiting is also good for them, maybe a more natural food to them????
