New TTLD first impressions :- )

At the suggestion of various members and given the magazines will run a mile from criticising a piece of kit, here is your chance to tell us what you really think about a rod, reel, line, lure... keep it legal please!

New TTLD first impressions :- )

#1 Post by JPS »

Well ,

Had a great weekend and tried out the new TT-LD for the first time Yesterday after getting it late on Friday evening.
At this stage the rod has only been used for fishing and performed brilliantly with weights for 50 to 75 grams on the lures that I was using matched with my Penn 525 TMag.

After spinning with the rod for a period I moved into using it with a simple pulley rig and 4 oz lead clipped down. The rod really supprised me with the ability to send this out quite a distance into a strong headwind and at no time did I feel the rod being under powered in any way. The slimmer profile moved through the air very easy and made for a great day out on the water.

I will be using the rod again this evening belting out a cliped down Shad lure for long range spinning casting 125 gram weights , once again matched to the Penn.

Next week I will use it on the field and see how she performs with my comp reels. Based on the first impressions I thing this will be a very enjoyable experience.

My hat off to Century for producing another quality product.

Nice to see you like in Jeremy.

Are you guys able to order from Aus, or do you order from the UK. It's a big risk to purchase a rod that you might not get on with.

How it the tip on this Rod? I find I need a softer tip for 100g and below and You can feel the lead a bit better.

Kev ,

The rods are ordered from the UK so if we don't like it it means we have to try and sell it or just keep buying rods till we find one that suits our individual style and ability.
Could be why I have so many rods in my den

The tip on the TTLD is only 3.2mm in diameter and handles the 100 gram really well as well as the 125 gram. This I must point out is with a relaxed casting style that allows the rod to load up and then you let her unwind.

I was casting mine again today in very rough southerly headwinds , once again with my Penn 525 ( Love these reels for fishing ).
The rod handled the conditions very well and allowed me to get good distances straight into the wind . The slimmer profile of the rod and the smooth loading feel made it excellent for these conditions. I am really looking forward to getting some pleasant conditions which should see the distances go up quite a bit.

I will video the rod in action on the weekend and give you somemore results.

Regards :D

Cheer for the info Mate.

Sounds like a really nice Rod.... Might have to have a look at one for Bass fishing over here. At the moment I am throwing the 100 and 125g with the zziplex 4500. The Nice soft tip helps me feel the lead loading the rod as I loose sight of the lead.......helps my crap casting :)

Mac ,

Stop looking at the lead and concentrate on looking up at 45degrees. You will be supprised how your distance will go up.
