long distance fixed spool rod

Hi all,
well tried to do a deal with a workmate for a tdpk daiwa rod but word travels fast and he saw the replies regarding the rod yesterday on this site,only his second time using itjust my luck! :cry: :cry:
Anyway my next query is regarding a good long distance fixed spool rod.No offence but not interested in the ultra long stylerods over 15ft etc.Just not my thing more of a traditionalist.
I was thinking upto a max of 14ft,anything out there to fit the bill,light and powerful with good bite detection and capable of long casts despite the casters shortcomings.
I'm thinking maybe a grauvell tektron but are they been made anymore or those anyone have 1 or the like for sale second hand.

the shimano beastmaster 13f , is a very usefull rod, plenty of power
when you need it, and very well construted, top quality fittings,
very well priced also

century blackbird exellent rod and you can use fixed spool or multiplier ,the rings that century use and size allow for either to be used.its 15ft in length and two piece very good all round rod with exellent bite detection.cheers john

cheers for the replies,unfortunately due to prices on the grauvell due and the blackbird i don't think i'll be purchasing unless i win the lotto tomorrow night :lol: :lol:
Just wondering is the grauvell tecktron worth a look or maybe the supercast fs version,also whats the story with the century euro in particular the 4to 6 oz version,way to many choices but as im mainly a multi man im just a bit slow to fork out big money,as they are still and will always be my first love.Basically looking for a decent rod for safe fixed spool casting without breaking the bank.

Brief review of Tektron....

Grauvell Tektron 4200...

One of Grauvells sadly discontinued lines, if you see one, snap it up! This is an amazing looking and performing piece of kit. When fished with a standard tip, despite the very slim blank, make no bones about it this rod can welly a large weight and bait and pull the plug out if you have to. I used this constantly at Monkstown Wall teamed with a FS in early 2006 and was well able to get the distance required with 6 and 7oz weights and full crab baits. When it came to skulldragging cod up over the reef it didnt let me down. Whatever you do though, if you buy one of these, spend the extra 50 quid or so and buy yourself a match tip for it. This turns the rod into a totally different animal. Perfect for long traces, light lines and spotting tiny flattie knocks in the suds. If you cant source a Tektron match tip, I believe the match tip for the HM 4200 will also fit it. The rod is finished to a very high standard and is very eyecatching in its colour and design.

Hi there,
i've had a discussion with a local tackle dealer down here.He has recommended the k2 range from shakespeare or the grauvell tecknos v.Both are 14ft and hopefully i'll have a look later in the week and purchase if something suits,i'll keep you posted with the outome.

This rod is very heavy and fat.

For 3 pieces:
Daiwa tournament caster 33, Daiwa Sky caster 33, Daiwa Landcaster 33, Shimano SHIMANO SUPER AERO TECHNIUM bx, Shimano Surf Leader Bx.

In two pieces Zziplex,Conoflex,Century,AFAW ring for fixed spool are the best.

the century blackbird or the century sre mate may be a little costly but well worth it good strong rods and will last if looked after which is what you want .sure other rods are cheaper but no where near as good spend that little bit more and get a good rod .

I recently bought a Century carbon Metal BB and am very impressed with its ability to fire a baited rig out to a good distance with a very basic overhead thump. The rod does all the work for you. Bite detection is average at best.

I will be buying a second one if someone buys my bait and bait freezer that are for sale in the for sale section

They retail for £260 but if you shop around you will see them for around £220.

I have a few grauvell rods and my first was the rc beach then 150 notes now about 100 and i have never used anything else since. Paired with the zeus reel its outstanding.

Now have bass,spin and 2 beach rods love them.
